Getting Un-Stuck on Social Media
Lately, I’ve been facing a case of social media writer’s block, particularly when it comes to creating industry-related content. This is part of the reason I decided to launch “Motivation Mondays” on the KT World Communications social channels. It not only provided me with inspiration but also served as a creative outlet while I brainstormed more informative content.
Whether you’re handling your own social media or managing others', chances are good you’re going to run into this problem at some point.
Here are a few strategies I employ to break through the block:
✅ Canva Templates
Canva offers a wide range of pre-designed templates. Simply search for your topic, select a template, and customize it to match your brand’s voice and colors. Keep in mind, though, that some templates may contain grammatical errors, so careful editing is crucial.
✅ Discover Page
On Instagram, clicking the magnifying glass icon reveals a variety of posts beneath the search bar. The algorithm tends to display content similar to what you typically view, making it likely that you’ll come across industry-related material. Something there is bound to ignite your creativity. Remember, if you curate content or quote another creator’s post, be sure to give credit where it’s due.
✅ Follow Hashtags
Despite claims that hashtags are no longer effective, they remain a valuable tool for indexing content related to specific topics. Platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn allow you to follow hashtags, showing you a selection of relevant posts each week. On other platforms, you may need to search for or click on hashtags to discover related content. Engage with posts directly by replying or sharing, or use them as a source of inspiration to kickstart your own creativity.
Remember: the key is to keep experimenting, staying open to new ideas, and finding what works best for you.
Aha, I hear you all shout out at once, what about Chat GPT? I haven't forgotten it, but it definitely deserves its own blog. Stay tuned…
But for now I want to know:
How do you break through the creative block and find inspiration for your industry-related content?
